Free Dinner Program

The Black Liberationist Party of Montreal Free Dinner Program is an evening drop-in: a free hot meal, a warm place to spend a few hours, homework help for kids, and a breakfast to take home for the morning.

All are welcome. While our efforts are primarily focused on the Black working-class populace of Montreal, this program is open to everyone.

Why a dinner program

  • Serve free, hot, nutritious dinners to working-class youth and families in Montreal
  • Give young people a safe place to spend an evening: eat, relax, do homework, be in community
  • Put tutors in the room so no kid falls behind for lack of help
  • Send everyone home with a prepared breakfast so no child starts the day hungry
  • Ground our political work in material aid and mutual care

Food insecurity is one of the most pressing material issues facing working-class Black communities in Montreal. This program meets that need directly: no forms, no gatekeeping, no suffering in silence.

What an evening looks like

  • Eat: a free, hot dinner, served first-come, first-served while supplies last
  • Stay: come by for a few hours and relax
  • Learn: tutors are on site to help kids with their homework
  • Take home: a prepared breakfast meal to go for the morning

How to access

Sessions run in the evening. Days and location are being finalized with our community partners in Little Burgundy. Contact us or follow us to be notified when sessions begin.

If you or your organization can offer kitchen space, supplies, volunteer hours, or tutoring, we want to hear from you. Volunteer with the program.

Keep the plates full

Just $5 feeds someone. This program runs entirely on community donations: every 5 dollars puts a full, hot dinner in front of one of our neighbours. Donate via e-transfer.
